Calling all caped crusaders – St Mellons and Llanrumney Community Hubs are organising some out of this world events.
From February 18 to the 24 a whole host of comic events are planned for super heroes across Cardiff.
On February 18 the St Mellons and Llanrumney Hubs will host comic workshops which will give people the opportunity to use their special powers to create their very own comic book with the help of published comic book writers and artists. The sessions are for children aged 8 to 11. The St Mellons event takes place from 10-11am and the Llanrumney session from 2-3pm.
Comic creator Joe Glass will also visit both hubs to talk about his comic The Pride. He will be at St Mellons at 6.15pm on Wednesday, February 22 and Llanrumney at 6.15pm on Thursday, February 23. The comic is based on the adventures of a super-powered team of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender superheroes. A special question and answer session will take place at both evenings. The event will cost £2 and is open to anyone over the age of 14.
Finally the comic season ends with a Comic Book Talk which will give people an inside look into how to get into the comic book industry with the opportunity to speak to comic creators and artists. This event takes place at the St Mellons Hub at 6pm on Thursday, February 23 and at the Llanrumney Hub at 6pm on Friday, February 24. The sessions are for over 16s and cost £2.
Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, said:” All these events are perfect for all sci fi and comic fans. The events have something for comic fans of all ages and I think it’s a fantastic way to get a new audience into our new community hubs.
“The new hubs offer the services customers need, where they need them and make it easier for people to access Council services in their own communities.”
