New computers, DVDs and books are among the features of a Swansea community library that’s now re-opened after an upgrade.
Over £20,000 has been invested in a project at Oystermouth Library that’s also included a redecoration scheme.
Lighting has been upgraded, walls have been re-plastered and new carpeting has been laid.
The upgrade follows on from other community library refurbishments at Gowerton, Gorseino and Brynhyfryd.
One library user said: “It’s so nice to have our library back. It now looks much nicer and with all the lovely new books on the shelves it’s been worth having it closed for a short time.”
Iwan Davies, Head of Service for Culture and Tourism, said: “Recent investments at other community libraries in Swansea have seen membership numbers and popularity soar in the weeks and months following improvement work and I’m sure the Oystermouth upgrade will be similarly successful.
“The scheme means local people will soon have access to more stock than ever before at a time when libraries are becoming a heartbeat for the communities they serve.
“It’s very important that we have a modern library network in place in Swansea and investments of this nature complement the opening of the new Central library at the Civic Centre.”
To celebrate the reopening of the library, events and activities are planned for the forthcoming weeks so contact the library for more information.
