The Returning Officer for Denbighshire, at the request of the residents of Bodelwyddan, will be holding a community poll on 7 January, 2010, between the hours 4pm to 9pm on the question: “Should Denbighshire County Council continue with the proposed development plan for Bodelwyddan?”
The name and address of the proposer is Clifford Derek Barker of Carreg Lwyd, The Village, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire LL18 5UR
The polling station is at the Community Centre, Ty Fry Lane.
People entitled to vote are all qualified local government electors on the Registor of Electors for the community of Bodelwyddan and is run in accordance with the Parish and Community Meetings(polls) Rules 1987.

What is a Community Poll?
Under the Local Government Act 1972 electors of a community can call for a poll to be held on a specific question agreed at a community meeting. On Tuesday 1 December 2009 the Bodelwyddan Community meeting was held and a poll was called by the majority of those electors in attendance.
When will the Poll be held?
Community Polls must be held between 14 and 25 days after the poll was demanded. The poll has been arranged for Thursday 7 January 2010 between 4pm and 9pm.
Who can vote?
Anyone who is on the electoral register for Bodelwyddan and is of voting age on the day of the poll can vote. If you live in another community (such as Cefn Meiriadog, St Asaph, Rhuddlan etc) you cannot vote in this poll.
Where can I vote?
The polling station will be located at The Community Centre, Try Fry Lane, Bodelwyddan
What is the question I can vote on?
The specific question electors will be asked at the polling station is as follows:
“Should Denbighshire County Council continue with the proposed development plan for Bodelwyddan” On the ballot paper electors will only be given the option of voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
Community Polls are run in accordance with the Parish and Community Meetings (Polls) Rules 1987 and these Rules state that polling hours are from 4pm until 9pm.
Will electors get a poll card or postal vote?
No, under the Parish and Community Meetings (Polls) Rules 1987 there are no provisions for Poll Cards, voting by post or by proxy in a Community Poll.
What happens with the result of the Poll?
Votes will be counted after the poll closes and the result will be published. The outcome of the poll is no more and no less than an expression of the views of the electorate of the community who have voted in the poll and is not binding on any body.
