DSC_9071Computing experts from across the globe will descend on North Wales for the 10th anniversary of a revolutionary IT event.

The biennial International Conference on Internet Technologies & Applications (ITA15) takes place at Glyndwr University Wrexham from Tuesday (September 8) until Friday (September 11).

The gathering, which features a range of keynote speakers, workshops, tutorials and fringe events, brings together researchers from academia and industry developers from digital media, engineering and computing.

The conference has been held in Wrexham since 2005 and will this year attract up to 100 delegates from more than 30 countries.

Professor Richard Picking, Reader in Human-Computer Interaction and Conference Chair, said: “We’re raring to go again for our sixth ITA conference.

“This time we’re celebrating our 10-year anniversary and are particularly delighted to be sponsored by the world-leading Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

“Our scope is wider than ever, as we welcome delegates from over 30 countries, including researchers, artists and developers from all fields of internet computing, creative digital media, moving image and engineering.”

He added: “This high-profile event is good for the university, the local economy and it puts north east Wales on the international map as a centre of academic research.

“It’s also an opportunity for experts in a wide range of disciplines to share their ideas and research.”

The programme includes a keynote address by Professor Margaret Ross from Southampton Solent University and the British Computer Society, who will talk about Future Changes in the New Internet Age.

Visiting Professor Daniel Farkas, of Pace University in New York, will chair a debate on topics including User Traffic Profiling in a Software Defined Networking Context, while later in the schedule Michiko Harayama from Gifu University, Japan, will lead a discussion on Attacking the Cloud from an Insider Perspective.

“There will be a whole host of debates and discussions across the week,” said Professor Picking.

“We will be covering a spectrum of important issues and I’m sure it will make for a fascinating event.”
