Plaid Cymru AM Chris Franks has tabled an emergency Assembly question regarding the situation at Companies House in Cardiff.
A meeting will be held on Thursday to discuss the issue of 11 per cent cuts at the body that registers businesses.
South Wales Central AM Chris Franks said: “This is a difficult time for the staff at Companies House and their families. It is an example of the cuts from the government in London. Many more people work for the public sector in Wales so we will be hit harder. These job losses come directly from the Conservative- Liberal Democrat government in London. The Welsh government does not get a say in the matter.
“Plaid in government has worked tirelessly to protect the people and communities of Wales. Unlike the recessions of the past we have a Welsh government that will fight for every job in Wales. We have developed schemes to help people threatened with redundancy or to assist people in danger of losing their homes. I hope the people in Companies House will be able to get the help they need to get new skills if faced with redundancy. David Cameron’s cuts could set the economy of Wales back for generations just like under the last Tory government.”
