The Connah’s Quay Town Partnership is celebrating another success – as work to improve the slipway at Connah’s Quay dock begins. The dock regeneration project has received funding thanks to the help and support of the Town Partnership.
The Connah’s Quay Town Partnership is committed to improving the environmental and economic well being of the town. Working together over the last 18 months the Partnership, drawn from business and community groups, together with representatives of Flintshire County Council and the Town Council, have supported a wide range of projects throughout the town.
The Partnership helped the Quay Watermen and Recreational Association make a successful bid for Tidy Towns funding for the regeneration of the dock area. Tidy Towns funding is offered by the Welsh Assembly Government, through the County Council, to assist groups to make sustainable improvements to their towns. The funding will help to tidy up and reinstate the dock area, upgrade the slipway and a seating area is planned with an information panel.
Brian Dunn who chairs the work of the Partnership said,
“We are delighted to be able to work with community groups and others to improve the town. The projects we have supported are creating a significant improvement to the image and environment of our town”
Cllr Matt Wright, Executive Member for Regeneration and Tourism at Flintshire County Council said,
“I am encouraged to see that our partnership working is bringing benefits to the town and together with the broader strategic initiatives we are developing we aim to attract further funding and investment to this important part of the county.”
