A Welsh Conservative Assembly Member has been nominated for the prestigious title of Devolved Parliament/Assembly Member of the Year in the Dod’s Women in Public Life Awards.
Angela Burns AM, Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire since May 2007, was the only AM to make it to the shortlist of three ahead of the final awards ceremony on 23rd September.
Welcoming the news, Leader of the Official Opposition in the National Assembly, Nick Bourne, said, “I am delighted for Angela that she has been nominated for this national award.
“This is deserved recognition not only of the tireless work she has undertaken for the people of Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, but also the issues she has raised which affect people right across Wales.
“Angela has sought to raise concerns about rising business rates for small businesses across the country and the impact this is having on local communities.
“Through her senior role as Chair of the Assembly’s influential Finance Committee, Angela has been forceful in holding the Government to account for its decisions.
“This selection is thoroughly deserved and I wish to congratulate Angela on her prestigious nomination.”
