Cardiff Council will be staging a series of public exhibitions to give people a chance to view the latest proposals for a major redevelopment of the Maelfa Centre in Llanedeyrn.
The Maelfa Centre was developed in the 1970s and is now in need of an upgrade so it has been identified as a priority for regeneration to address issues of the poor shopping environment, high levels of retail vacancy, the need for investment in community facilities, as well as concerns about the design, layout and condition.
A comprehensive redevelopment scheme to provide new shopping provision, new community facilities including a library and day centre, and a range of new housing and apartments has been planned and public exhibitions are going to be held to give people a chance to see the proposals.
The exhibitions will be held in the Maelfa shopping centre on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 May from 10am until 4pm. An evening session will be held in The Powerhouse on Monday 23 May from 3.30 – 6.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to attend and staff will be available to explain the proposals and answer any questions.
Cardiff Councillor Judith Woodman, Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice said: “The proposals for the Maelfa Centre represent exciting changes for the area and I would encourage residents to take this opportunity to view the plans.”
