Contribute to a 3D landscape – Material Matters

Artist Clare Thornton is interested in collecting stories and curiosities; making sculptures, textile pieces, costumes and live social events inspired by the materials and objects she collects. She is curious about the memories and stories we fold into personal objects, and plays with everyday materials to create installations and ‘scenes’ which speak to the people and places where she is.

As part of her Laura Ashley Residency at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Clare will create a live activity in the Gallery. She invites local residents to visit her at work and to bring along an object that says something about them. These objects can be large or small, something you might use for work or an interest or hobby. Clare will place these objects in the Gallery, creating a 3D ‘landscape’ unique to the people and place of Aberystwyth.

All items will be returned. If you would like to contribute something to this installation, please bring it along to the Gallery from 27 May or email [email protected] to deliver it earlier.
