Conwy Council Borough Council currently has supplies of grit sufficient for 12 days pre-salting roads.
This amount is the equivalent of a supply sufficient for 3 days in the event of severe weather and heavy snow.
The Council’s response is based on a policy which has been in place for a number of years, and prioritises the areas which are treated.
However, the Council can’t guarantee the gritting of side and minor roads or the re-filling of roadside grit bins in these circumstances.
The forecast for the next few days indicates that the current situation will not improve and their resources will continue to be focussed on maintaining and keeping open the first priority routes.
Supplies of additional grit are on order. It is anticipated that a ‘drip-feed’ of additional supplies will be received to meet the needs of first priority routes.
