Two talented tenants are celebrating after their dramatic pictures of Conwy Castle and the Great Orme were joint winners in a photography competition.
According to the judges, the competition, which was open to all Cartrefi Conwy tenants, produced some fabulous images.
They included a picture of Conwy Castle by Andrew Richards, from Rhos on Sea, and one of the Great Orme by fellow tenant Colin Williams, from Llandudno, who received £50 each.
The pictures now take pride of place at Cartrefi Conwy’s new headquarters in Abergele.
Andrew, 28, says he entered 18 images into the competition but always thought his shot of Conwy castle was his best.
He said: “I took the shot one mid-afternoon but with a storm brewing it was very dark. It just made for a wonderful shot and I am very proud of it.
“I always carry my camera with me wherever I go and would love to work as a photographer if I could.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have won the £50 first prize and put the money toward my new Canon camera.
“Even better than the cheque though was seeing my image framed and hanging on the wall at Morfa Gele, Cartrefi Conwy’s new headquarters.”
He added: “I think it’s brilliant that Cartrefi Conwy run things such as photographic competitions. My mum spotted it in the Cartrefi Conwy newsletter and told me about it.”
Colin, 50, added: “I was very pleased that one of my photos won a prize in the competition. The selected image comes from a series I made, as I wandered around the Great Orme, throughout the four seasons in a year.”
Andrew Bowden, Cartrefi Conwy’s Chief Executive, was thrilled with the high standard of entries for the photographic competition.
He said: “The images submitted for the competition were incredible and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to meet Andrew.
“His image of Conwy Castle is absolutely stunning and looks wonderful framed and hanging on the wall in our new headquarters building.
“Although Andrew and Colin were joint winners of the competition I’d like to thank all those tenants who took time to submit images. The standard of competition just shows how multi-talented many of our tenants are.”
