Corwen Pavilion update

Denbighshire County Council has submitted an application to remove the existing structure of the Pavilion in Corwen that closed in April 2010.

This is a decision that has been taken in full consultation with the Corwen Pavilion Working Group. The council has worked closely with this group over the past 6 months bringing in a number of officers from the county to look at issues related to building design, cost and future funding.

It has been agreed that this building is beyond economic repair and any future development on that site would require the removal of the existing structure. While the building sits empty there is also a significant risk to the council and local community.

Denbighshire County Council will be issuing a 6 week statutory notice of its intention to remove the Pavilion. The works are planned for early January 2011.

Officers of Denbighshire County Council will be available to answer any questions or concerns on:

  • Monday 1 November (9.30am – 4pm)
  • Tuesday 2nd November from 2.00pm – 7.00pm.
  • Thursday 4 November (9.30am – 4pm)

These will be open sessions and will operate from the One Stop Shop / Library in Corwen. There is no need to book an appointment.

The council remain fully committed to transferring the title of this land over to the community who will be required to set up a charitable trust.
