Denbighshire County Council is getting into the festive spirit by offering free all day parking in six of its car parks during December, to encourage people to shop in the county’s town centres.
The car parks are:
- West Kinmel Street,Rhyl
- Fern Avenue, Prestatyn
- Park Road, Ruthin
- Mill Street, Llangollen
- Lower High Street, St Asaph
- Lower covered levels of the multi-storey car park, Denbigh.
In addition, there will be free parking in all other council public car parks after 3pm, staring on Wednesday, 1 December until the end of the month.
The council already offers five free parking days during the year to all main towns, to be used at the discretion of town councils.
Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “The council feels it is vitally important to encourage people to use our town centres, especially in this current economic climate.
“We are hoping that people will take advantage of the parking offer to visit our town centres and shop locally in the variety of shops and businesses that can meet the needs of consumers.
“Regenerating communities is one of the council’s key priorities and we feel that offering this arrangement over Christmas will encourage residents to think local as an alternative and see what they have to offer.”
