Denbighshire’s Street Cleansing service has been recognised as being “one of the top six best performing services in the UK”, and is the only Welsh authority to be shortlisted.
The highly respected Performance Networks benchmarking service operated by Association Public Service Excellence (APSE) has confirmed that Denbighshire’s street cleansing service is not only one of the top six best performers in the UK, but is also one of the top six most improved services across the whole of the UK, based on figures for the last four years.
With over 200 local authorities from across the U.K. in membership, Performance Networks is the largest voluntary performance measurement service for local government, providing benchmarking across 15 front-line services.
The series of performance indicators are a combination of compulsory/recommended measures suggested by the four main national audit bodies. These include cost, productivity, customer satisfaction, quality and human resource management giving a comprehensive view of performance.
Councillor Eryl Williams, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “Denbighshire’s street cleansing service has consistently cut its cost over the last four years whilst increasing its street cleansing inspection score, which is carried out independently by Keep Wales Tidy inspectors. This demonstrates that the cost of keeping Denbighshire’s streets cleaner than ever is falling, providing the county’s residents and visitors with a quality, value for money service”.
