Monmouthshire County Council is to work in partnership with other agencies to seek the views of young people in a series of engagement roadshows.
These will take place in the county’s five main towns from 23rd June to coincide with National Youth Work Week and will establish what provision is available for young people in the county, what can be improved and what needs to be offered.
Groups and organisations for young people invited to attend the roadshows will demonstrate what they can offer. They will include sporting bodies, organisations such as the Scouts and Guides and social groups. In addition, the council’s Youth Service, representatives from voluntary organisations and staff from other agencies that support young people in Monmouthshire will be in attendance at each of the roadshows.
The roadshows will be held at five venues from 9am to 5pm:
- Monday 23rd June – Chepstow Leisure Centre
- Tuesday 24th June – Caldicot Town Centre
- Tuesday 24th June – Abergavenny Market Hall
- Wednesday 25th June – Usk – adjacent to Spar food store, Bridge Street
- Friday 27th June – Shire Hall Monmouth
The partnership between the county council and associated organisations – GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations), local housing associations, the local youth offending service plus others – is known as the Integrated Youth Offer and it provides a framework to support young people aged 11 to 25.
