Despite the economic climate Denbighshire’s council tax collection rate for 2009/10 as 98.2%, this is 0.1% higher than last year when our performance was the highest in north Wales and second highest in Wales.
This is also the highest rate for the county since local government re-organisation in 1996 and Denbighshire is expected to be one of the best performing authorities in Wales for council tax collections.
Ken Jones, Head of Revenues and Benefits, said: “Once again we are delighted with these results, as they reflect the tremendous dedication of the team in collecting council tax across the county.
“It also reflects the support of the majority of Denbighshire residents who pay on time. The increase in collections goes a long way towards improving Denbighshire‘s financial position and allows us to invest more money in public services.”
Information about paying council tax can be found in the Money Matters publication, delivered to households last month with council tax bills.
