The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Cabinet has been taking some tips from the Vale’s younger generations by holding a series of question and answer sessions.
Two sessions were held, the first at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School in February and the second at Cowbridge Comprehensive School in March, to enable the cabinet members to meet with the schools’ councils and students and answer any questions they had.
Cabinet spent an hour with each school council, who were well prepared and didn’t pull any punches!
Questions ranged from education issues to leisure facilities in their areas, as well as the popular subject of pot holes and road conditions. Cabinet members were also quizzed on student transport options and whether they thought recycling should be made compulsory.
The Cabinet Members line-up in anticipation of questions.School council members from both schools then paid a visit to a cabinet meeting held at the Civic Offices in Barry to see how the sessions are run.
Council leader, Cllr Gordon Kemp, said: “The questions that were asked by both the school councils help us to understand the issues that are current and important to pupils of all ages. Cabinet and members found the experience very useful and enjoyable and as a result we are planning to visit other schools throughout this year to meet with their school councils.”
