For the second year, Flintshire County Council is holding an event to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2012, which is 27 January.
The Arts, Culture and Events section has been working in partnership with Flintshire Youth Forum and Menter Iaith Sir y Fflint, to create an interesting and moving programme on this year’s theme, ‘Speak up, Speak out’. There will be a performance of a play, ‘Genocide’, which has been written and developed in both English and Welsh by the young people of the Flintshire Youth Forum.
There will also be a poetry slam for young people between 13 and 19, on the theme of ‘Discrimination, Genocide and Holocaust’. Members of the audience, families and friends will be able to vote for a winning poem, which will be posted on Flintshire County Council’s website, in the Arts, Culture and Events section.
The Holocaust Memorial Day event will take place on Friday 27 January, 7pm at Connah’s Quay Civic Hall, and all are welcome to attend this free performance, by talented young people to raise awareness and send a clear message for our time about anti-discrimination.
Any young people between 13 and 19 who wish to take part in this exciting event, by joining the poetry slam, can contact Beth Ditson, Community Events Officer on 01352 702472.
