Councils’ marquee right up your street at county show

An exhibition showing some of the vehicles used by Denbighshire and Flintshire County Councils to protect and enhance the environment will be showcased at the annual county show being held at the Green, Denbigh on Thursday, 18 August.

‘Streetscene’ will be the theme at the councils’ joint marquee, with an external exhibition featuring a range of different vehicles seen out on our streets, including a street lighting, sweeper and food recycling vehicles.

Inside the marquee, Flintshire County Council will be promoting its Streetscene programme whilst Denbighshire County Council will focus on recycling.

Visitors to the marquee can enter two competitions; one by the Rural Development teams with a packed lunch for a family of four or a £25 meal voucher up for grabs, courtesy of Caffi Florence at Loggerheads Country Park.

People can also guess the number of cans crushed inside a recycling bale, with £20 worth of goodies from the visitor centre at Loggerheads being the main prize.

Staff from the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) will have an exhibition promoting their work, as well as a demonstration of countryside skills outside the marquee.

Triffordd nurseries from Flintshire will be showcasing their own grown plants, with Meifod Wood Products displaying some of their tables and benches.

Leader of Flintshire County Council , Councillor Arnold Woolley said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Denbighshire County Council again, this year promoting some of the important work that we do to protect, maintain and enhance the environment around us. Staff will be on hand to give people more information about the vehicles on display, and people will be encouraged to take a look inside our marquee to learn more about other services offered by both councils.

Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans, said: “This is the third year running for both councils to have a joint marquee on the show field. Working together is very much the way forward and it makes perfect sense for us to share resources. Both councils are also proud to be supporting the show, a truly important event in the annual agricultural calendar”.
