With just over 2 weeks to go before the closing date for nominations of this year’s exciting Love Where You Live Awards, the race is on to nominate the eco-friendly businesses in the community.
For the third consecutive year Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is welcoming nominations from the public to highlight all the environmentally friendly businesses out there and the work that they have been undertaking in their local community.
Does your local shop go the extra mile when it comes to recycling? Or maybe your office has gone paper free? Or does your business watch your carbon footprint by sourcing local goods? Or maybe your business operates with the environment at its core?
If you feel your business or a business you visit deserves to be rewarded for its green credentials then why not nominate them for this prestigious award.
The prestigious Rhondda Cynon Taf awards celebrate and highlight the achievements of individuals, businesses, schools or local communities that have introduced positive, inspiring and beneficial changes to the community.
For example, could you follow the lead of Costain, who scooped the Business Award in 2010? Costain showed immense dedication to the green cause by successful management of their waste, reducing the impact of their business on the environment and sustainability.
Nominate your 2011 eco-business warrior for Love Where You Live now!
If you know of anyone that you feel deserves an award, then you can nominate them for the competition. But don’t forget that the closing date is now fast approaching – March 31st 2011!

Entering the Love Where You Live Awards is simple; you just need to fill out a short entry form that must be submitted by Thursday March 31st 2011. Applications will be placed before an independent panel of judges. The chosen finalists will be visited during May before the overall winner of each category is announced.
The awards take place every summer in the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd and are set to take place on 21st June 2011. But the Council wants you to start thinking of possible nominees already so plenty of applications can be received.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services Cllr Anthony Christopher said: “Recycling and waste management is important to all members of the County Borough and it is vital that businesses are on board and get recognised for their achievements. The Love Where You Live Awards aim to inspire the local community and businesses to join in and assist us in improving their community, as well as highlighting the achievements of the many waste champions we have across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
“The Love Where You Live Awards has grown to become one of the annual highlights of the Rhondda Cynon Taf calendar as it involves so many different sections of the community who are committed to improving the local environment for the benefit of everyone.
“This is our opportunity to not only congratulate them on their achievements, but encourage others to follow suit. By working together we can make Rhondda Cynon Taf an even cleaner and greener place to live in, work in and visit.”
