Countdown to Bridgend Police Open day on Sunday

In opening their doors to the public, local residents will get the chance to take a rare glimpse behind the scenes at Bridgend Police Station and to talk to local and specialist officers and the police’s partner agencies.

Visitors will also be encouraged to speak to the officers about their roles and the ever growing part they play in keeping our communities safe places to live, work and visit.

Among the attractions at the July 4th event will be the Bridge FM Roadshow,

Police dogs’ presentation, Traffic and Armed Response Police, real life Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) taking your fingerprints and police exhibits from yesteryear.

In addition there will be a Fire Service Presentation, Birds of Prey display and a Street Rugby league competition.  Along with this and other competitions and face painting for children, there will be refreshment stalls and stands with information about Safer Bridgend, Neighbourhoods Teams, together with licensing, crime prevention, plus many other voluntary and partner agencies.

Event co-ordinator Detective Chief Inspector Marc Lamerton, Communities and Partnerships DCI, said: “The Bridgend Family Open Day will have something for everyone and it will be an occasion that the whole family can enjoy.

“It is also a fantastic way for people informally to meet their local police officers and find out a little more about the work they do on a day to day basis.

“Entry is completely free of charge, and I would personally like to encourage everyone to come along and join in the fun.”

The 2010 open day will run from 11am-4pm with last entry at 3.30pm. Admission is Free.
