Caerphilly County Borough Council has recently issued statutory public notices in connection with the implementation of car parking management and a system of charging on a pay and display basis in five country parks across the area, these being:
- Parc Cwm Darran,
- Parc Penallta,
- Pen y Fan Pond,
- Sirhowy Valley Country Park
- and Parc Coetir Bargoed.
A spokesman for CCBC said: “Caerphilly, along with every local authority across Wales, is facing unprecedented financial pressure as a result of UK Government funding cuts. In 2014/15 alone we are faced with making savings in excess of £14million and a similar further amount is required over the next two years.
“It is inevitable that difficult decisions will need to be made and we must prioritise spending in order to protect services, therefore we are reviewing our fees and charges which include the introduction of parking fees at our country parks.”
The charges would be applicable 7 days a week with up to 2 hours costing £1; daily £3 and an annual season ticket costing £50 which could be used in all country parks . Disabled badge holders will receive 3 hours parking for the £1 charge.
The period for any objections to be made in writing to the council has been extended to Friday 2nd May due to the Easter break.
