Monmouthshire County Council has launched consultation upon its draft Equality Objectives and Plan document which sets out how the council aims to ensure that its functions, decisions and behaviours fully take into account the impact they make on the people of Monmouthshire.
Full details of the consultation, which closes on Friday 18th May 2012, are available on the Equality and Diversity page of the council’s website www.monmouthshire.gov.uk.
Although publication is part of the council’s duty under the Equality Act 2010, the development of the plan has represented an opportunity for the council to further demonstrate its commitment to equality and ensure it remains true to its corporate values of openness, fairness, flexibility and teamwork.
Commenting on the draft plan, chief executive Paul Matthews said: “The council is committed to embedding equality into its culture. The draft Equality Objectives and Plan document sets out how we will continue to embed equality into the council’s functions while recognising the need to further consult and develop the plans to ensure they are relevant to people of Monmouthshire”.
