The leader of the Plaid Cymru Councillor group on Carmarthenshire County Council, Peter Hughes Griffiths, has kicked off the party’s Spring Conference at Ffos Las Racecourse, Trimsaran.
Plaid Cymru’s leader on Carmarthenshire council has welcomed the party’s new leader and party membership to the county, telling delegates that the party’s fire has been reignited.
Mr Griffiths added that this enthusiasm would put the party in good stead for the local elections in May.
He said that having elected a new leader, the party can now focus on pressing government at all levels to take action to boost the economy, secure jobs and help families.
Welcoming the crowds to conference, Peter Hughes Griffiths said:
“Carmarthenshire has a very special place in the history of Plaid Cymru. It was almost 50 years ago when the people of the county first put their faith in Plaid and voted Gwynfor Evans as our first ever Member of Parliament.
“When people elect a Plaid representative – at all levels of government – they elect a local champion who will fight for their area and have the best interests of the community at heart.
“Having elected a new leader, the party can focus on pressing government to take action to boost the economy, secure jobs and help families. That is exactly what we are proposing here in Carmarthenshire.”
