Young people in Neath Port Talbot are being encouraged to use their local library by entering a ‘crime writers’ competition.
Neath Port Talbot Council’s library service has teamed up with the Crime Writers Association to be part of a national competition inviting young people to write their own crime story.
The competition is aimed at 11-18 year olds and they can collect their packs from their local library.
“Neath Port Talbot has joined in many literary based projects which have been hugely successful,” says Council Leader, Ali Thomas.
“These worthwhile projects promote literacy and are beneficial to the local community and to young people.”
The closing date for entrants is the 19th February and can be submitted by e mail [email protected]
The library service will announce the winner for Neath Port Talbot at a specially organised awards ceremony.
A shortlist of regional winners will be submitted to local crime novelist Sally Speeding who will choose an overall winner for South Wales to go through to the National finals.
These will be held during National Crime Fiction Week in June.
