The expansion of a private hospital’s operation has been hailed a shot in the arm for the economy of Abergele.
Spire Yale Hospital’s Consulting Rooms on the North Wales Business Park on the outskirts of the town is doubling in size.
They are taking over the first floor of the building where they have been based on the ground floor since 2009.
The news was revealed during a visit by local AM Darren Millar who also has an office on the business park.
The expansion will enable Spire Yale to introduce a number of new services, including non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
Other services will include beauty therapy, acupuncture, sports massage, pilates and yoga and chiropody.
A consultant paediatrician is also keen to offer childhood obesity clinics there.
Earlier this year Spire Yale revealed they were investing £500,000 in 2014 in new high tech equipment.
Mr Millar said: “The expansion of the Consulting Rooms is brilliant news for Abergele. There’s going to be more jobs, more people coming to the town and obviously it’s making use of what otherwise would be an empty space on a business park.
“They’re delivering high quality health care in their Consulting Rooms here in Abergele and clearly they’re providing an excellent service to their many patients, the hundreds of patients that they see each and every month.
“It gives people choice in terms of their health care and I just think that it’s great to have them located on this business park in my constituency.
“Once the new facilities are developed upstairs on the wellness front and on the cosmetic front, they’ll be able to offer their clients even further choices in terms of the breadth of services that are available to them. I wish Spire every success with this new venture.”
Sue Jones, the Hospital Manager of Spire Yale in Wrexham was delighted Mr Millar took the time and trouble to visit the consulting rooms.
She said: “This is an exciting time for Spire Healthcare generally and for the Consulting Rooms in particular.
“The provision of non-surgical cosmetic treatments is a new development for us in North Wales but there is a need for it.
“This is a great facility and this new service will be backed up by Spire Healthcare’s policies, procedures and expertise which is reassuring in term of patient safety and peace of mind.
“The treatments will include anti-wrinkle injections, fillers, dermabrasion and skin rejuvenation. We’ve also got some really good lasers for hair removal, skin pigmentation and tattoo removal. ..
“We currently employ eight staff on site but we will be taking on two cosmetic practitioners and we’re hoping it will lead to further new jobs in future.
“Anybody requiring a more complex cosmetic or non-cosmetic procedure can be referred on to an appropriate consultant.”
Andrea Carri, the Registered Manager at the Consulting Rooms, said the clinical work on the ground floor would continue, with consultants providing a range of specialties, including orthopaedics, urology and general surgery.
She said: “This is a really exciting time for us and we hope everything will be up and running upstairs by the end of the summer.”
Mr Millar added: “The North Wales Business Park is really booming. Abergele is ideally situated, along the A55, at the heart of North Wales. Why wouldn’t you want to base yourself here?
“That’s why we’ve got the headquarters of local housing association Cartrefi Conwy here and why there’s a brand new dementia facility being developed on site along with the headquarters of other organisations like the Red Cross here.
“It really is an ideal location from which to base your business or organisation and Spire have seen this opportunity and they’re expanding their site as a result and I wish them every success with it.”
