Leader of the Conservative Party, David Cameron, has today congratulated Andrew RT Davies following his election as the new leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Welsh Assembly.
David Cameron said: “I want to congratulate Andrew on his election as the leader of our party in the Welsh Assembly. Under Labour, Wales has become the poorest part of the UK, its education system is failing a generation and now Labour are making cuts of £1billion to the NHS.
We must now offer a strong Conservative voice for Wales and I look forward to working closely with Andrew to deliver this and realise our strong ambitions for Wales.”
Sayeeda Warsi, co-Chairman of the Conservative Party added: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew as the leader of the Welsh Conservatives.
“Our Party in Wales has made great strides over the last decade, topping the poll in the European elections, gaining five parliamentary seats at the last General Election, and becoming the second largest party in the Welsh Assembly at this year’s elections. And I look forward to working with Andrew, following the excellent work done by Nick Bourne, to build on these successes.”
