Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly for Wales, Andrew RT Davies AM was struck by the sense of community during a recent visit to Llanidloes War Memorial Hospital.
Accompanied by Llanidloes Mayor John Whittal-Williams, Mr Davies undertook a tour of the hospital and visited staff in the day hospital and the community nursing team at the day clinic.
Speaking at the visit, Andrew said, “At a time when the NHS in Wales is being slashed by £534 million by the Welsh Labour Government in Cardiff, it is heartening to see the dedication and professionalism of staff, battling to ensure that the hospital meets the needs of local patients.”
Mr Davies said, “Hospitals like Llanidloes are the life-blood of our rural communities. As Welsh Conservatives, we want to see services delivered as locally as possible for patients, not in some one-size-fits-all super hospital 80 miles away.”
Andrew added, “The partnership between the hospital staff and local organisations is first class and is exactly the sort of community ties we want to encourage and strengthen throughout Wales.”
