Davies: Carwyn Jones – “the proverbial bad workman”

The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly has branded the First Minister ‘the proverbial bad workman’ who persists in ‘blaming his tools’.

Andrew RT Davies AM has highlighted comments from Carwyn Jones last year, in which he claimed ‘the point about [the referendum in] March is it’s about the tools for the job’.

Since the election, only one Bill has been tabled in the Assembly.

Speaking after First Minister’s Question, Mr Davies said:

“The First Minister is the proverbial bad workman. It’s about time he stopped blaming his tools and got on with the job.

“Six Bills have been tabled by the Scottish Government in the time the Welsh Labour Government has tabled one. That’s a startling contrast that smacks of laziness and a lack of leadership in Wales.

“In the meantime, businesses continue to wait for the government’s economic policies. Support for microbusinesses is being reviewed. Business rates are being reviewed. Welsh city regions policy is being reviewed. It’s over six months since the election, yet still there are no firm commitments in these areas.

“While the First Minister continues to make his excuses, Wales continues to wait for progress.”
