Commenting on the Health Minister’s announcement of a new shared services committee, responsible for streamlining the delivery of non-clinical NHS services, Shadow Minister for Health Andrew RT Davies said:
“I welcome any efficiency savings that get more money back into frontline services.
“That is a crucial area that must be addressed following Labour-Plaid’s cuts that are already taking over 400 million out of the NHS.
“Frontline health services across the country are fearful of the future because of excessive cuts in a budget that the Welsh Conservatives have pledged to safeguard.
“The Health Minister’s recent history in streamlining also gives me cause for alarm.
“When our Health Boards were reorganised a no redundancy policy was implemented, due to what WAG called a need to retain experience.
“I hope the work of this committee will be properly targeted at the extra support our frontline services so desperately need.”
