Commenting on concerns over the implementation of the Foundation Phase, Shadow Education Minister, Paul Davies AM said:
“This is not the first time teachers have expressed concerns about the roll-out of the Foundation Phase.
“While we support the principles of the scheme there have been concerns over funding for this initiative ever since it was launched.
“The Assembly Government must ensure that there are no unacceptable variations in the implementation of this scheme that impact negatively on children’s education.
“All children in Wales deserve to have a first class education.
“These latest concerns demonstrate yet again why, in the face of shrinking budgets, the Assembly Government must re-focus spending on frontline services, instead of expensive policies like free school breakfasts.”
