Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the UK Government’s announcement that a review will be conducted into the internal procedures at NHS Blood and Transplant in light of recording errors of patient records from the DVLA.
Commenting on the announcement, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“I am pleased that the UK Government has ordered this review.
“Clearly, there have been some very worrying errors in the donor registration process and this may jeopardise the willingness of people to sign up in the future.
“Lessons must be learned from this review and robust measures must be put in place to ensure that these sorts of mistakes are not made again.
“It is important that people signing up to the organ donor register can have confidence that what is effectively their last wish will be honoured.”
