Welsh Conservatives have expressed support for MS Cymru’s call on the Assembly Government to ensure fair access to treatments used to improve the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Speaking at the start of MS Awareness Week, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“MS Society Cymru has uncovered a postcode lottery over certain treatments, such as Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), and this is leaving discrepancies in MS treatment provision for sufferers in Wales.
“It is gravely concerning that the Minister has not sought to rectify the situation.
“It is simply unacceptable that some sufferers are being left without treatment that could dramatically improve their lives purely because of where they live.
“The Health Minister must address the situation and work with health boards to ensure parity in the provision of MS services across Wales.”
