Commenting on the decision of Fastnet Line to end its ferry crossings from Swansea to Cork with the loss of 78 jobs, Byron Davies AM, Shadow Minister for Transport and Regeneration, said:
“This is devastating news for the employees affected and their families.
“The loss of this service will be a blow to trade and business links between Wales and Ireland and could hit tourism into South West Wales.
“I hope Welsh Labour Ministers will work with transport operators to assess the viability of a sustainable ferry link between South West Wales and the Irish Republic.”
