Welsh Conservatives have backed the Health, Well Being and Local Government Committee’s calls for huge improvements in the provision of stroke services in Wales.
Commenting on the Committee’s report, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“As a member of the Committee compiling this report, I have heard deeply concerning evidence that highlights a massive shortfall in stroke services across Wales.
“A vast restructuring of stroke care is needed to ensure that all stroke sufferers in Wales are getting the care they need.
“It is fundamental that the Minister brings forward an all-Wales stroke strategy as a matter of urgency.
“The Minister must also look again at the funding allocated for stroke services in Wales, and identify more clearly resources that contribute to stroke services to ensure that levels of funding are commensurate with those of other UK countries.
“Stroke sufferers in Wales deserve no less.”
