Welsh Conservatives have today praised the dedication of Welsh Ambulance Service staff but have noted the need for further improvements in the service.
Commenting on the matter, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“I wrote to the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust earlier this week to congratulate them on the improvements they have made.
“It is easy to knock the performance of the service but some improvement has been made and this is down to the dedication of staff.
“However, we cannot ignore the fact that the Trust lags behind its UK counterparts. It is of critical importance that we see consistent and improved service provision throughout the year, not just in seasonal peaks.
“The Assembly Government needs to work with the Trust, not only address that financial deficit it faces, but also strategically to ensure that all parts of the Health service are working effectively so we do not see ambulances backed up at hospitals.
“The Health Minister must ensure that robust measures are in place so that the dedication of staff striving to improve services for patients in Wales is not wasted.”
