Speaking ahead of yesterday’s launch of the BMA Cymru ‘We’ll Keep a Welcome’ initiative to attract Welsh students to return to Wales to train as doctors, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“I very much welcome the BMA’s campaign. It is critical for the future of the Welsh NHS to attract high quality professionals to Wales to ensure the highest levels of healthcare are available.
“Every effort must also be made to break down misconceptions about working in Wales so that Wales is seen as a first choice destination for newly qualified health professionals.
“Frontline services must not be allowed to suffer because the Welsh NHS cannot attract suitable new staff.”
