Commenting on reports that insurance firm Zurich is proposing more than 100 job losses at its Cardiff offices, Shadow Minister for Business Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“This is the latest in a number of established global names that have announced job losses within Wales.
“Whether it’s Panasonic, Bosch, Sony or Zurich – it’s obvious to me that more must be done to encourage names like these to stay put and keep staff on.
“Today’s announcement is symptomatic of a wider problem.
“Unemployment is falling thanks to UK government policy, yet the Welsh Labour government continues to dither on the economy.
“While efforts are made to promote Cardiff’s Business District potential, news like this is dramatically hindering progress.
“The First Minister still says he’s ‘examining enterprise zones’. It’s time for him to put an end to his indecision and make the right choice – introduce them.”
