The RSPCA is appealing for information after a decapitated rabbit was found at Newport International Sport Village.
A member of the public made the shocking discovery on Tuesday (29 July) at around 12.10pm on the grounds of the sports centre at Velodrome Way. The rabbit was moved to a safe place as lots of children were in the area.
The domestic black and golden coloured rabbit was found with blue cord attached to its neck and did not have any other marks. The owner cannot be identified due to no microchip.
RSPCA inspector Selina Chan said: “It is unusual for a domesticated rabbit to have a cord around its neck. Anything could have happened to dislocate the rabbit’s neck.
“We are appealing for information to find out what happened to cause this horrific injury.”
Anyone who may have information about this incident should contact the RSPCA inspector’s information line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.
