Members of UCAC teachers’ union at Ysgol Gynradd Goronwy Owen, Benllech, Anglesey, have made a formal declaration of no confidence in their Headteacher.
Following a formal complaint by the teachers against the Head, the school governors commissioned a report which highlighted basic failings in the Head’s ability to lead and manage the school.
A panel of governors recommended instigating ‘Capability’ procedures, however the Governing Body as a whole decided that an Action Plan would be the best way forwards. This is entirely unacceptable to the teachers who believe that the situation at the school is irredeemable.
One of the teachers said, “The situation at school is intolerable and is affecting our health. We are operating in a climate of fear which is certain to have an adverse effect on our work.”
The teachers will consider taking industrial action unless significant steps are taken in response to the declaration of no confidence.
