North Wales Police have confirmed that they are not at this stage looking for anyone in connection with the deaths of Paul and Jean Laithwaite at their home, Deeside House, Sealand, on Sunday evening.
A team of forensic experts are continuing to examine the house and post mortems are being carried out today in Liverpool, but Detective Superintendent John Chapman, who is leading the investigation, has confirmed that they are not seeking any other person in connection with this incident.
He said: ” We are piecing together the last movements of Paul and Jean Laithwaite to provide us with as complete a picture as possible of what has happened. We know that they were a close couple and family. They did not attend their normal church service last Sunday and I would like to appeal to anyone who saw or spoke to them on that day to contact us.
“We have been working closely with the family and specially trained officers are dedicated to that liaison role. Clearly this is a very distressing time for them and I would repeat their request, which was made on Monday, for their right to privacy to be respected.
“The post mortems that are being conducted today will provide me with the further information I require and I am liaising closely with the Pathologist and the Coroner.
“From the extensive enquiries that have been conducted since the discovery of Mr and Mrs Laithwaite, and examinations that have been conducted, I can say that at this stage I am not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Anyone who spoke to Mr and Mrs Laithwaite on Sunday or who may have information relating to the couple is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 if in Wales, 0845 6071001 (Welsh line), 0845 6071002 (English line) or e-mail [email protected].
