The new sales office of an expanding property firm has been officially opened by an AM.
Vale of Clwyd AM Ann Jones cut the ribbon at the refurbished office of Elwy Estates on Vale Street in Denbigh.
Elwy, which started out solely as a property lettings firm has now also become an estate agent and business is booming thanks to a buoyant property market.
The company opened its first sales office on Bodfor Street in Rhyl, and is looking to replicate its success in Denbigh.
Katie Wynne, the manager of the Denbigh office, said: “It’s great that Ann Jones has been able to come to officially open our new sales branch here in Denbigh, especially since she came to support us open our sales branch in Rhyl. That’s great for us because she’s been a part of our journey as a company.
“We’ve given our Denbigh office a facelift to make it more cosy for people when they come in. We’ve got a new floor and new décor. We’ve also got brand new signage outside to reflect what we’re now doing with sales
“The sales are really taking off fantastically well in Rhyl. We’re getting our name out there and people care getting to know where we are and who we are, so it’s great to be able to bring that to Denbigh. The lettings element of the business is going from strength to strength and we’re taking on more properties on in Rhyl and Denbigh.
“We’re hoping to get our sales team established in Denbigh, and after that we might be looking to expand again by opening offices in other towns.”
Elwy, which operates across the counties of Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy and employs four members of staff, was able to expand rapidly with the help of the through the Jobs Growth Wales scheme.
The scheme is funded by the Welsh Government to get young people aged between 16 and 24 into work, and enabled Elwy to take on apprentices that they then gave fulltime jobs.
Ann Jones AM said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to come to Elwy Estates today. This is an extension as they are moving into selling more homes and I wish them well and I’m happy to come here to offer my support.
“Elwy Estates is an example of a company that has benefited from Jobs Growth Wales, and I think that shoes the ambition of the Welsh Government that small and medium enterprise businesses such as Elwy Estates can move forward and expand with support which is very good for the local economy.
“What they’re doing is letting and selling homes locally for people, and we hope that will help create a buoyant economy in Denbigh and in Rhyl.
“I think the refurbishment looks very professional, and I think that’s what people want to see. If people are looking for houses to rent or to buy they want to know that they’re being looked after effectively and efficiently and that’s what Elwy do. I think it looks good.”
Kerry Grayson, Sales Director at Elwy Estates, added: “I’m excited about expanding the sales operation into Denbigh. We work differently to most estate agents who charge a percentage of the sale price. Instead Elwy have a flat fee of £750 and don’t charge VAT.
“Jobs Growth Wales was great for Elwy because it meant that we were able to take on young people who have now become important parts of our team. That’s part of the reason we’ve been able to expand into sales so quickly.”
