Young people from across the county will showcase their newfound samba skills at a special awards ceremony at the Oriel House Hotel, St Asaph on March 17.
The youngsters will be stars of the show at the ‘Partnership Oscars’ as they perform for guests and showcase the work they have been doing with music co-ordinator, Gethin Evans in recent weeks.
The event has been organised by Denbighshire’s Children and Young People’s Partnership to celebrate the success of the partnership and the many achievements of young people throughout Denbighshire.
The Children and Young People’s Partnership is made up of organisations that work with children and young people from voluntary, community and statutory public services to provide services for children and young people.
Other groups showcasing some of the skills they have learnt on the night include Llangollen Silver Band members and the Young Un’s Theatre group, also from Llangollen.
Angela Delaney of Denbighshire Children and Young People’s Partnership said: “The night will celebrate just a few of the successful projects from across the county that have received partnership support for their innovative and creative methods of engaging young people in positive activities.”
Gethin Evans, Project Officer for Community Music Wales, who worked with the Samba groups, said: “It’s been a fantastic project, given the limited time we’ve had with the participants.
“It promises to be a great night at Oriel House – it’s amazing how well the young people of Denbighshire have taken to Samba, it’s as if there is a bit of Rio in Rhyl!”
