Denbighshire and Partners Appeal for Funds not Physical Donations Following Thursday’s Floods

denbighshireDenbighshire County Council and partner organisations have praised the generosity of people offering donations of all kinds of goods from food and clothing to furniture but are appealing for people to donate to the Rhyl Mayor’s fund in the main.

Alternatively, Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council has set up a ‘virtual warehouse’ online where people can register offers of items that can be matched with what people need.  Go to www.b2cwales.co.uk/initiatives/b2c-give or contact B2C in Rhyl on 01745 353110.

Rhyl Mayor, Councillor Andy Rutherford, has set up a fund with Co-operative Bank and buckets have been distributed around the town for people to donate as well.

Mr Rutherford said: “We are extremely grateful for the offer of all donations. We understand people want to help and it is natural that they wish to help in a practical way but we are appealing for financial donations as opposed to physical donations at this time.

“We want to ensure we have the right help at the right time and at this stage, people are in need of financial assistance. This also means that we can focus resources on providing the kind of assistance people truly need.

“The majority of people affected are in emergency accommodation at present and so are not in need of furniture and other goods – this will come in time once their properties have been repaired – what they may need, however, is financial assistance with getting back in their homes.

Those wishing to donate should do so using the following details at the Co-operative Bank.
Sort Code 08-92-50
Account Number 67005527
Account Name North Wales Credit Union
Ref. 600089

Any cheques should be made payable to Rhyl Mayor’s Flood Appeal.
