Two Denbighshire beaches have been successful in gaining awards, as part of the Keep Wales Tidy beach awards programme.
Prestatyn Central and Rhyl Central have received the coveted Seaside Award, recognising their water quality and facilities. The distinctive yellow and blue flag will fly over the two beaches this year, after they met the standards set for water quality and infrastructure providing facilities that are clean, safe and well managed, over 29 different criteria.
Ian Olson, Assistant Leisure Officer for Denbighshire’s Coast, highlighted the partnership work that goes on to achieve these awards. “A considerable amount of effort and time is spent in applying and working to achieve and sustain these awards.
“Officers from Natural Resources Wales, Scientific Services, Denbighshire Leisure, Streetscene and Regeneration all work hard to ensure that the infrastructure, water quality and public realm are to the standards required to meet the criteria. We are really pleased that both towns have achieved these awards which demonstrate the fabulous assets the beaches are to our County and will encourage more people to visit the coast.”
