Commenting on figures showing that households in Denbighshire have the highest reuse, recycling and composting rates in the whole of Wales, Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar said:
“I’m delighted to see the people of Denbighshire doing their bit to reduce, reuse and recycle.
“These figures show the success of the ‘blue bin’ recycling scheme in Denbighshire and that residents are benefiting from this simple and effective service.
“Given that Denbighshire has the highest recycling rate in Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government should be backing the scheme rather than trying to force the council to scrap it for something which could see recycling rates plummet.
“This is yet another example of the Labour-Plaid Coalition interfering unnecessarily in decision making by local councillors.”
