Youngsters across Denbighshire will learn about the importance of washing their hands as part of a healthy schools scheme to celebrate Global Hand Washing Day (October 15).
Working with key partners from the school nursing service, health improvement and environmental health, a pack has been developed to help raise the importance of good hand hygiene. The project is part funded by Cymorth through the Denbighshire Children and Young People’s Partnership.
Every school will be able to access a hand hygiene resource pack which will help with teaching children and young people about the importance of good hand hygiene, correct hand washing techniques and infection control.
The resources for schools will coincide with new guidelines that are being issued to schools from the Welsh Assembly Government.
During November all schools will be invited to come along to a training session to receive the resources.
Pupils at Ysgol Esgob Morgan, St Asaph have already started on their hand hygiene project in preparation for Global Hand Washing Day. Having recently achieved phase 3 of the Healthy Schools Scheme, the school is keen to promote good hygiene across the school.
