BBC Weatherman Derek Brockway is leading a walk through the Afan Forest Park in Port Talbot in support of Foster Care Fortnight (17th – 30th May).
The fostering team at Council is inviting everyone to join Neath Port TalbotDerek on the walk (May 24th) to highlight the Council’s recruitment campaign.
Coordinated by Fostering Network and supported by Neath Port Talbot Council, the campaign aims to encourage people to find out more about fostering, what is involved in becoming a foster carer and how rewarding it can be looking after vulnerable children.
Events are being held in and around Neath Port Talbot. During the two week campaign, the fostering team will be holding information stands at the Gnoll Country park, Morrisons in Neath and the Aberavon Shopping Centre in Port Talbot.
Information displays can also be found at the Civic Centres in Neath and Port Talbot.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Ali Thomas, said, “Foster carers play an important role and look after some of the most vulnerable children in Neath Port Talbot.
“Foster Care Fortnight highlights the excellent role undertaken by our foster carers who care for the children and young people of Neath Port Talbot.
“We are always looking at recruiting more foster carers and we ask anyone who has been thinking about fostering to come forward and join us on the walk.”
