Design team appointed for redevelopment of Rhyl High School

Plans for the redevelopment of Rhyl High School have taken a step forward with the appointment of Willmott Dixon as the lead contractor partner of the design team.

The contract awarded in April is to develop an outline design solution by September 2010, to address accommodation issues at the Rhyl High School site.  This will support Denbighshire County Council’s application to the Welsh Assembly Government for funding to take the project forward.

The design team will be consulting with key stakeholders over the coming months to produce a design which meets the needs of learners and the wider community in Rhyl.  The team welcomes suggestions, ideas and comments from all parties associated with the school reconstruction project and will be organising a number of events, to allow people to share their views.

The first event will be an opportunity to ‘meet the designers’ at an informal drop-in day on Thursday 3rd June as part of the Rhyl Week promotion in the White Rose Centre.  Architects and design consultants will be present to speak to on the day and there will be an opportunity to complete a simple questionnaire about the project.

Details of further consultation and information events will be announced in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, up to date information be made available on the Denbighshire County Council website under Projects, Rhyl High School.  Any suggestions or queries about the Rhyl High School project can be emailed to [email protected]
