Designer Daisy presents her Tŷ Hafan Christmas card

One of ten year old Daisy Parker’s favourite places at Tŷ Hafan is the art room where, during one of her stays earlier this year,  she produced the design which was to become part of the 2010 range of Christmas cards currently on sale in all  Tŷ Hafan shops across Wales  ( or online at  www.christmascards.tyhafan.org)

Daisy is a very happy little girl despite the fact that she suffers from Retts Syndrome which is a neurodevelopmenal disorder that affects girls almost exclusively.

From an early age she began to have feeding difficulties, seizures and hyperventilation episodes and has actually stopped breathing whilst having a seizure on a number of occasions.

Daisy has been spending time at Tŷ Hafan, the family hospice for young lives, for almost three years to give her family a breather from her 24/7 care.    She has also accessed the outreach play service and Toy & Leisure Library through which she has enjoyed being introduced to toys to help her reach her full potential.

Her mum Emma is very proud that her daughter’s card design will help to raise funds for the hospice. .

“I was delighted when the staff asked if Daisy’s design could be used this year.    We stay at Tŷ Hafan as a family and we all enjoy the break and the friendly atmosphere.  The caring nature of the hospice is not only beneficial to Daisy but also her brothers”

The full range of Christmas cards, including Daisy’s, are for sale at £3 for a pack of ten cards in all Tŷ Hafan’s shops or you can order online at www.christmascards.tyhafan.org
